Theo dõi tái thả Voọc Hà Tĩnh tại Kẻ Gỗ

Post-release monitoring of Hatinh langurs at Ke Go

Participation in fieldwork associated with the reintroduction and post-release monitoring of Hatinh langurs, including tracking movements, adaptation, and emerging risks. Unexpected events, particularly interactions with rhesus macaques and interruptions to monitoring, underline the importance of behavioural preparation and long-term post-release commitment.

Primate reintroduction does not end when an enclosure is opened. Post-release monitoring of movement, adaptation, habitat use, and emerging risks is essential for assessing whether released animals can persist in the wild.

I participated in fieldwork associated with the reintroduction and monitoring of Hatinh langurs at Ke Go Nature Reserve. The release events documented in the 2019 publication illustrate difficult-to-predict situations, including aggressive interactions with rhesus macaques, group fragmentation, and monitoring interruptions caused by natural conditions.

An important lesson is that release-site selection, behavioural preparation, group composition, and long-term monitoring need to be considered together. The website summarizes only events documented in the publication and does not extend claims beyond the scope of that research.
